About this app

StampBrain turns your phone into an instant postage stamp identifier and value checker. Point your camera at the front of a stamp, scan the reverse, or hold it up to a light to read the watermark, and get the country, issue, denomination, catalog number and an estimated value in seconds.

Whether you are working through an inherited album, sorting a dealer mixture, or checking one stamp before you buy it, StampBrain gives you a clear answer without hours of catalog searching.

IDENTIFY ANY STAMP IN SECONDS
Snap a photo and the AI reads the design, the country name, the denomination and the lettering to name the stamp and show a match accuracy score. Three scan tabs cover what collectors actually check: Scan Front works from the design, Scan Back reads the reverse, and Detect Watermark reads a backlit stamp. Every result opens on an identifiers card listing the catalog number, year, denomination, color, perforation and watermark behind the match.

KNOW WHAT IT IS WORTH
Every scan comes with an estimated value and a pricing chart over 30, 90 and 365 days so you can see whether an issue is climbing or cooling before you buy or sell. You can also browse the catalog by country and by stamp type, from definitives and commemoratives through airmails, revenues and postage dues, or jump straight to US, British Commonwealth and European stamps, without scanning anything.

DETECT THE WATERMARK ON A BACKLIT STAMP
Watermarks separate stamps that look identical to the eye, so they get a scan tab of their own. Hold the stamp up to a light source or lay it face down on a dark surface, and the photo goes to a dedicated watermark model that reads the watermark design, its orientation and its position, then returns the stamps that carry it. It is a separate analysis from the front and back scans, not the same one relabeled.

ORGANISE YOUR COLLECTION IN ALBUMS
Save every scan into albums you name yourself, for countries, reigns, topics or duplicates. Follow your total collection value, page through your albums, and sort any album by value or by name.

ASK STAMPBRAIN ANYTHING
Not sure what you are holding? Answer five guided questions and the assistant narrows it down from the catalog for you. You tell it the country or region, stamp type, era, condition, and anything special you can see yourself, from a color variety to an error or plate variety. You can also ask the AI assistant about issues, watermarks, perforations, gum, storage and stamp care.

ENHANCE YOUR STAMP PHOTOS
The built-in AI photo enhancer cleans up glare, blur and poor lighting, with a before-and-after slider so you can see what changed, and your original photo is kept. Faint cancels and fine engraving scan more reliably and look sharp when you list or share them.

LEARN FROM THE COLLECTOR LIBRARY
Browse collector guides across four areas, market news, error stamps, grading tips and catalog updates, written for collectors at every level, and save the ones you want to keep.

CHECK AUTHENTICITY NOTES BEFORE YOU BUY
Every stamp carries authenticity notes covering what experienced collectors check first, plus the alternate printings of the same design that are easiest to confuse with the issue in front of you.

Values in StampBrain are informational estimates derived from our own catalog data. They are not appraisals, not a live market feed, not an expertising opinion and not investment advice. Always examine a stamp in hand, and have anything significant expertised, before you buy or sell.

StampBrain is an independent tool for collectors. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any postal administration, catalog publisher, grading or expertising service, auction house or marketplace. All country names, issue names, catalog numbers, designs and trademarks are the property of their respective owners and are referenced only to identify the physical stamp the user has photographed.
