About this app

With the release of the 3rd edition of the Standard King James Bible, an app was finally released along with it!

I would like to explain the principles of standard King James translation.

1. Principle of no deletion
The Bible is the word of God. A Christian is a servant of Christ who keeps the word of God, not a person who arbitrarily adds or subtracts from the word of God.

2. Principle of passive voice
The passive voice is a grammar commonly used not only in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, the original languages of the Bible, but also in English. The passive voice is a predicate form in which the subject is the object of the action, as opposed to the active voice, in which the subject is the subject of the action. Therefore, it is a format that must be maintained in order to accurately express ‘who’, ‘to whom’ and ‘what’, which is the basis for interpreting the Bible. Only by accurately expressing this can the numerous truths that run through the entire Bible come to life.

3. Principles of gender
There are many parts in the Bible that accurately express gender (masculine, feminine, and neuter). For example, by personifying wisdom as a woman and highlighting it as an object of affection like a lover, or by indicating the gender of the animal (for example, the colt that Jesus rode when entering Jerusalem was a male, and the Lord treated the colt as a mother) This includes parts that provide specific information (such as telling them to bring him with a donkey) and parts that point to Jesus Christ by personifying each of the tabernacle's articles as men. We know this because the King James Bible preserves the truth about gender.

4. Principle of singular plurality
The fact that God has intention for singular and plural is a truth that is also emphasized in the Bible. When God spoke of making Abraham's descendants as numerous as the stars, he did not refer to the many descendants as "seeds" but deliberately referred to them as "seeds" in the singular. This was an important truth showing that the very seed that God spoke of was one man, Jesus Christ. (Galatians 3:16).

5. Principles of transliteration of proper nouns
The English King James Bible follows the proper nouns established through existing Bibles, but when the language or spelling is different, it is written differently honestly. Even if it is the same person, if the notation is different due to differences between Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, the language difference is expressed by writing differently.

6. Principle of personhood
The second person appears a lot in the Bible. It also appears in vocative cases that address an object, between people, and between people and God. The second person is “a person who refers to the listener,” and refers to the person with whom the conversation is being spoken, and the third person is “a person other than the speaker and the listener,” which refers to a third person. Keeping the second person as written in the second person shows the honesty of the Bible translation and clearly shows the relationship between the people being spoken to. (omitted) Some people think that using yourself for God degrades God, but that is not true at all. Rather, it is a very important expression to distinguish between the second and third persons in the Bible. The Bible shows important truths, even about a single person. According to this principle, the standard translation was translated as the Bible was written, keeping in mind the persons.

7. Principles of cross-reference systems and built-in Bible dictionaries
Bible verses have a cross-reference system that supports each other and expands the scope of interpretation. Additionally, the Bible has the characteristic of repeating the same words with synonyms or providing definitions and interpretations within the Bible itself, which is called a built-in dictionary. Therefore, it is best to translate scriptures consistently to maximize the functionality of the cross-reference system of scriptures and the Bible's built-in dictionary. Therefore, the standard version of the Bible translates all of the thousands of nouns in the Bible differently from each other to maximize even the smallest differences. Thus, a cross-reference system was made possible to compare Bible to Bible.

8. Principle of respect for the inspiration of the King James Bible
Bible translation can vary greatly depending on beliefs about the script or original being translated. The degree to which the meaning contained in the original is reflected in the translation varies depending on how much respect is given to the original. Therefore, in the existing major Korean translations, there are often parts where the meaning of the English King James Bible is not fully preserved and has faded, which is why some of the translators of the major Korean versions of the King James Bible do not fully regard the King James Bible as a book inspired by God. This is because there was no translator who could be trusted. The translators of the Standard Version believe that the King James Version is a book inspired by God. The translation was also thoroughly translated using the King James Bible as the original text.

Concluding the introduction (quoting part of the preface from the Standard King James Version)

Since the Word of God is not bound (2 Timothy 2:9), God can work abundantly on anyone who approaches this book and believes it to be the Word of God. Trust that the Creator on High has something to say to you right now, and after asking God to show you His will each day, open the pages of the Bible. This book is also alive because God himself breathed into his words the breath of life with which he created Adam. When we read the Bible, the book actually reads the reader's heart first and responds according to that heart. This Bible will show God's purity to the pure and God's hostility to those whose hearts are perverted (Psalm 18:26). The Bible is the only living book on earth. Fear this book and devote your life to keeping its words. Don't make big or small decisions in your life alone; consult with God through this Bible. Then, you will directly hear the words vividly conveyed to you by God the Creator, and I am confident that your life will change.
