Standard Notes is a secure and private notes app. It syncs your notes securely across all your devices, including your Android devices, Windows, iOS, Linux, and Web.

Private means your notes are end-to-end encrypted, so only you can read your notes. Even we can't read the contents of your notes.

Simple means it does one job and does it well. Standard Notes is a safe and lasting place for your life's work. Our focus is making it easy to write notes wherever you are and syncing them with encryption to all your devices.

Standard Notes is completely open-source, which means when we say your notes are encrypted with industry-leading XChaCha-20 encryption, and that only you can read your notes, you don't have to take our word for it. Our code is open to the world to audit.

We made Standard Notes simple because longevity is important to us. We want to make sure we're here, protecting your notes, for the next hundred years. You shouldn't have to find a new notes app every year.

To sustain our development, we offer an optional paid program called Standard Notes Extended. Extended gives you access to powerful tools including:

Ratings and reviews

Not a fan. First, it doesn't play well with 1Password. There is a button for Google Keep but it's not easy. I had to search online to find it is a manual process. And once the import was done there were many cryptic errors, most items were duplicated, and pictures were orphaned from corresponding notes. It ended up being a huge pain and mess. Starting from scratch may be a better experience but I'm taking a pass. If importing from Keep is an advertised feature it shouldn't be such a cluster.

standard notes is great. it's extremely useful as a notepad. tend to copy things to clipboard that you want but an hour later it's deleted itself? past it into standard notes. want to prewrite or fine tune an AI prompt that you will use more than once? standard notes. super easy to use, quick and functional with no load time or ads. it's great.

PROS no trackers or ads. CONS no Find, no Undo or "exit without saving" just a REALLY vague revert feature, no scroll bar on pixels, paywall for different themes. Geez I just want to change the color of the bar at the top of the app. Not worth spending $$$ when there are dozens of ad-free note apps with plenty of customization features- for FREE (see Fossify). I "kinda" get paywalling the excel file type, but paywalling themes and minimal color tweaks. I'll pass. FOSS apps for life!
