About this app
WillCO2st empowers academic researchers and the general public to accurately account for the scope 1 and 2 emissions generated by their work.
The app has three main features:
1) Experiment Tracking. WillCO2st enables users to record the energy requirement for an experimental protocol. The app uses the user's geographic location in connection with the National Grid's Carbon Intensity API to accurately track the amount of equivalent carbon emissions generated during the time of the experiment. Users can store this information and sent it to themselves via email for post-processing, visualisation, and distribution at their will.
2) Travel Costs. The app takes the UK GOV's 2023 reported emissions statistics of travel to translate mode and distance travelled by users into an accurate amount of equivalent carbon emissions released via their journey. The users can record and export this information to their email for post-processing, visualisation, and distribution at will.
3) Contribute to the Codex. Our research goal is to help grow sustainable research across disciplines and the world. With this, we encourage and facilitate researchers and citizen scientists to send their usage data, create carbon appendices to their research, and help contribute to the free, open-access carbon codex.
