MaskCapture is a screen recorder built around privacy masking. You do not need a separate editor afterwards, because mosaic and blur are written into the video file while you record.
Privacy masking
- Draw mask regions on any screen and choose mosaic or blur.
- Add, move, or remove mask regions while the recording is running.
- Built-in templates: corner mask, status bar blur, and navigation bar blur.
Recording
- Area capture: drag the frame and corner handles to record only part of the screen, or record the full screen.
- Quality options: 1080P, space saving 720P, or the original device resolution, encoded with H.264 video and AAC audio.
- Audio sources: mute, microphone, internal system audio, or microphone and system audio together. Internal audio requires Android 10 or later.
- Start countdown: 3, 5, or 10 seconds so you can switch to the screen you want to capture.
- Auto stop: limit a recording to 5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes, and the current recording is saved automatically when storage runs low.
- Pause and resume: resuming continues the same video file instead of creating separate clips.
Look and feel
- Filters: grayscale, sepia, vintage, sharpen, blur, high contrast, saturation, invert, warm tone, cool tone, vignette, sketch, and outline.
- Filter intensity can be adjusted live while recording.
- A text watermark can be turned on or off, with control over the text, size, movement direction, and speed.
Floating controls
- A floating control bar lets you pause, resume, or stop without returning to the app.
- Open the mask editor during a recording to adjust masked regions in place.
Video library
- Thumbnail list of every recording, with clip count, total duration, and total size.
- Play back, share, or delete recordings from inside the app.
- Recordings are stored in Movies/MaskRecorder on your device, and the video files are not uploaded.
About VIP
VIP is a one-time in-app purchase, not a subscription. It lets you turn the watermark off or customize its text, size, movement direction, and speed. If you reinstall or change devices, use Restore purchase in Settings with the same Google account.
Permissions

- Microphone: used only when you choose to record audio. Nothing is captured when the audio source is set to mute.
- Display over other apps: used for the floating control bar and the mask editing layer.
