startrescue.co.uk was possibly the first breakdown company to offer an app that allows you to report your breakdown without having to make a telephone call.

Features:

Unlike other vehicle breakdown apps, the startrescue.co.uk app does not require you to make a telephone call to report your breakdown.

Once you have completed the simple registration process, reporting your breakdown takes less than 15 seconds.
When we receive your request for assistance we will already know who you are*, what type of policy you have*, where you are and what may be wrong with your vehicle.

Thanks to your smart phone’s built in GPS, we will know exactly where you are.

We will call you back and confirm your details, saving you the cost of the phone call.

If you are not a startrescue.co.uk member, we will provide you with a quotation for our Pay On Use assistance.

When help is on its way, you will receive a message stating who will be attending and how long they will be.

The app is free and available to both startrescue.co.uk members and non-members.

Had to use the app recently for a breakdown. Worked very smoothly, sent my location to the team automatically and I had regular updates and text contacts while waiting. The phone number was available if needed. Local rescue service arrived a bit later than originally stated, but had another text saying how far away they were. The app worked perfectly!

Takes lots of details (it doesn't remember you or your car, oddly) and then gives the spinning wheel of doom for ages (despite strong WiFi). Called the call centre (nice people, who confirmed that job wasn't logged by app and confirmed that the app is temperamental). The app is pointless, esp as the call centre are quick to answer the call and are great.

What's Happened Start Rescue? This App used to be great. You could add your policy and have access all your documents. Now you can only report your location when you've broken down. Clearly they've pulled App investment. Shame! Which I'd known this before I just renewed like 10 minutes ago!!
