About this app

Keep a clear, dated record of what actually happened.

SquareLog is a documentation tool for parents going through a custody or divorce matter — especially those handling it themselves, or working with a lawyer they can only afford to use sparingly.

It is not legal advice and not a substitute for a lawyer. It is a place to write things down properly, so that months later you can show what you recorded instead of trying to remember it.

WHAT IT DOES

• Dated entries — Write what happened in a few sentences. Every entry is stamped with the date and time you saved it.

• Attachments — Keep photos, screenshots of messages, and receipts attached to the entry they belong to, instead of lost in your gallery. Take a photo from inside a new entry, or share a screenshot or text into SquareLog from another app.

• Timeline — See everything in order by date, and export it as a PDF you can print or hand to your attorney.

• Declaration drafts — Turn your entries into a draft document formatted for your state, as a starting point for you and your attorney to review. Not a finished filing.

• Email drafts — Get help writing a calm, factual message to the other parent or to your lawyer, on the days that is hard to do.

• Research — Ask plain-language questions about how things generally work in your state and get answers with sources.

• Insights — See patterns across your entries: how often something happens, and when it clusters.

• Daily reminder — An optional nudge at the time you choose, so a day does not go unrecorded.

BUILT TO STAY PRIVATE

• Locks with your fingerprint, face unlock, or screen lock whenever you come back to it after five minutes away — so it stays closed if someone else picks up your phone.

• Your entries are encrypted in transit and at rest, and are visible only to your account.

• No copy of your records is kept on the phone itself.

• Export everything or delete your account entirely, from inside the app, without asking anyone.

PRICING

Free to download. Writing entries, attachments, your timeline, and exports are free to use.

The AI features draw on a prepaid credit balance, and every new account starts with $5.00 of credit included. Top-ups are $5, $20, and $50 through your browser.

There is no subscription. Nothing auto-renews.

BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD

• An internet connection is required. There is no offline mode — entries cannot be created or read without a connection.

• United States only. Requires Android 12 or later, on phones and tablets.

• Declaration drafting and legal research are available in 47 US jurisdictions. They are not available in Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, or Tennessee. Outside Connecticut, this content is automated and unverified, and the app will tell you so before you choose your state.

• AI-generated text can be wrong or incomplete. Review anything it produces, and have a licensed attorney review it before you file it or rely on it.

IMPORTANT

SquareLog is software. It is not a law firm, does not provide legal advice, and does not create an attorney-client relationship. We make no representation that records created in the app will be admissible in any legal proceeding, and no promise about the outcome of any legal matter. Consult a licensed attorney about your situation.

What’s new

Fixes: coming back after the app sat in the background for an hour or more no longer leaves you signed in but unable to save - the session renews itself, and a revoked one takes you to sign-in with your unsaved entry kept. No more 'too many requests' errors while entries are analysed. Status bar icons are visible on phones set to light mode. A documentation tool - not legal advice.
