About this app

StipaCaller is a private, invite-only messaging and calling app for family and close friends. Messages are end-to-end encrypted. No phone number required, no ads, no tracking.

Features
- End-to-end encrypted chat — only the intended recipient can decrypt a message; the server holds ciphertext.
- 1:1 voice and video calls over WebRTC with DTLS-SRTP encryption.
- Group chats with the same end-to-end encryption — a small circle, not a public room.
- Voice messages — hold to record, release to send.
- Send photos directly in chat, or from any other app via the system share sheet.
- Works on Wi-Fi or mobile data, even on cellular networks that usually block direct connections.
- Push notifications wake the app for incoming calls and messages, even when backgrounded.
- Delivery receipts so you know your message arrived.

Privacy
- No phone number — pick a handle.
- No address book upload; contacts are added via one-time invite codes.
- No ads, no analytics, no advertising IDs, no third-party tracking.
- Push notifications carry no message content — incoming text is decrypted on your device only.
- Call audio and video travel as encrypted bytes end-to-end. If a direct connection isn't possible, the server only relays encrypted bytes — it can't decode them.

Permissions
- Microphone — only during voice or video calls and voice messages.
- Camera — only when video is on during a call or when you choose to send a photo.
- Notifications — for incoming calls and messages.
- Network — to reach the server.

How it works

StipaCaller is invite-only by design. To sign up, you need a one-time invite code from someone already on the app. Codes are short, expire after seven days, and each one is for a single person. This keeps the network small and trusted.
