About this app

Homer Player is an audiobook player for the elderly. Its simple user interface makes it easy to operate for seniors and people with poor vision (or both).

Features:
- simplicity: just a list of audiobooks and a "start" button,
- flip-to-stop: there's no need to press any buttons to pause playback, just put the device face down on a table,
- low-vision friendly interface: book titles are read aloud and high contrast, large UI elements are used,
- adjust speed: slow down playback for those hard of hearing.

Single application mode (kiosk):
With this mode enabled the user cannot exit the application so they don't need to know how to use a tablet.
Perfect for building a dedicated audiobook player for your grandparents.

This is the only audiobook player I have found that my grandfather can actually use and I'm very grateful for it. But I have some notes: he keeps missing the play button because he can't see well and getting into the settings. I wish I could set up a code to keep him from messing with those. He has no idea what he's doing, he's just tapping whatever to hear his books. once a week the app has a weird thing where you hit play and less than a second later it just stops. I can only reinstall.

I have tried a number of options for my 90 year old mother who is severely sight impaired including audible from amazon. This app was the best solution. It turns any tablet into a dedicated audiobooks player. I initially had a few issues with installing and configuring the app but the developer in Poland helped me through the whole process. Great app. Totally free. Developer doesn't want any payment. Great guy.

Nice and easy to use, but it needs a repeat play option. I'd use for my wife, but one calm sleep story is too short and there's no way to repeat it. Also the FF/RW is too slow. For long books, it can take a while to find to previous position, and no way to save it (AFAICS). Maybe an option to speed it up the further right/left the finger goes.
