That clicky sound, that tape-like sound, and the sound of an AM radio can be reproduced — a music player app full of nostalgic retro charm.
■ Main Features
・Tape Effect — Wow & Flutter, Tape Speed, Azimuth, Saturation, Hiss Noise, Low-Pass Filter, High-Pass Filter
・Operation Sounds — Sampled one by one from stylish '80s tape recorders. That mechanical "clicky" sound brings back the atmosphere of that era.
・Equalizer — Supports everything from retro 3-8 bands to modern 5-31 bands. L/R channels can be set individually.
・AM Radio Effect — An AM radio effector that reproduces everything from AM modulation to interference.
・Tape Rotation Animation — Linked to Playback, Fast Forward, and Rewind
■ Tape Effect (Tape Sound Quality Simulation)
This is the app's greatest feature. By tapping the musical note icon at the bottom of the screen to enable "Tape Effect," the original sound will change in real time to resemble the sound quality of a cassette tape. The music on your smartphone will transform into a nostalgic sound, just like listening to it on a cassette tape.
All parameters can be finely adjusted using the sliders.
• Mix (Dry/Wet) — Adjusts the mixing balance between the original sound and the effect sound.
• Wow / Flutter — Reproduces the fluctuating sound caused by subtle speed variations in tape movement.
Wow: Low-speed fluctuations from 0.5 to 6 Hz
Flutter: High-speed fluctuations from 6 to 100 Hz
Adjust frequency with Frequency and intensity with Intensity.
(Frequency classifications conform to US standards)
• Azimuth — Reproduces the phase shifts and muffled sound caused by subtle head tilts.
Set the amount of shift between the left and right channels with Offset.
Add non-periodic fluctuations with Drift.
• Saturation — Reproduces the soft distortion caused by magnetic saturation during tape recording.
• Hiss — Reproduces the "hissing" tape hiss noise (two types available).
• Filter (High Cut / Low Cut) — Reproduces the frequency characteristics of the tape.
High Cut (Low-pass filter)
Low Cut (High-pass filter)
Tape type is Three presets are available: Normal, Chrome, and Metal. Enjoy the unique sound characteristics of each tape type.
*This function does not faithfully replicate the recording and playback characteristics of actual cassette tapes; it simulates cassette tape-like sound quality through digital signal processing. The sound may differ from that of actual tapes.
■ Equalizer — Three categories: Pocket, Boom/HiFi, and Modern, with a total of nine band configurations.
Pocket ranges from the three bands found in cheap portable cassette players to the five bands of mainstream machines. Furthermore, the five-band configuration offers two types: a standard type and a version for major manufacturers.
Boom/HiFi offers configurations for boomboxes, car stereos, and EQ decks, while Modern offers a modern standard band configuration.
■ AM Radio Effects
- Easy-to-use Emo mode. Avoids complicated parameter settings. You can adjust the AM radio feel to your liking based on the concept of station distance (nearby stations/stations in neighboring prefectures/distant stations/late-night distant stations).
* Of course, in Pro mode, you can individually set AM modulation, noise (sparks), bandwidth, interference (fading depth, fading speed, beat tone strength), etc.
■ Other Features
This app has a repeat function, and you can easily switch between "Repeat: OFF," "Repeat: ALL," and "Repeat: 1 (repeat one song)."
Also, you can easily switch the lyric display on and off by tapping the cassette on the screen, making it useful not only for music listening but also for English learning.
If you register English and Japanese translations in the lyric field, you can check the content at any time during playback. Furthermore, when "Repeat: 1" (repeat one song) is enabled, fast-forwarding or rewinding will display the lyrics like cards. You can carefully learn by checking each phrase for each song.
If you are bothered by the operation sounds (mechanical sound effects), you can adjust the volume individually.
You can set the volume separately for speaker use and earphone use, allowing you to use it according to your environment and preference.
