Aquavox does two things, and both with your phone's speaker.
EXPELS WATER
If your phone gets wet, Aquavox plays a sweep of 120 to 200 Hz. These frequencies move the speaker diaphragm enough to push the water out. Place the phone speaker-side down, turn up the volume, and press the button. When it's finished, it vibrates to let you know.
CHECK A USED PHONE BEFORE YOU BUY IT
Ten checks to make when you're about to pay for a used phone:
• Google account lock. If the seller hasn't removed their account, the phone will lock when you erase it and won't get past the home screen. This is the first thing we tell you to check.
• IMEI. Use *#06# to verify that it matches the one on the box.
• Cameras. Live view of each lens to look for smudges and moisture.
• Screen pixels. Full-screen color display to find dead spots.
• Touch zones. A grid drawn with your finger reveals unresponsive areas.
• Volume buttons, vibration, and sensors: accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, and proximity sensor.
• Separate testing of speakers and microphone.
Finally, a report detailing what works, what doesn't, and what remains untested. This is shared as an image, useful for negotiating the price.
WHAT WE DON'T DO
Aquavox cannot read the phone's IMEI or Google account, and it doesn't fabricate battery health. For the account and IMEI, we tell you where to look and how to interpret what you see.
It also doesn't repair anything. It moves water with sound and helps you visualize it.
