About this app

Make encoded text readable on your phone. Paste a string or share text to Pocket Decoder, inspect the decoded result and copy the step you need.

Read Base64 and base64url, hexadecimal, URL percent encoding and JWT headers and payloads. Format JSON and inspect nested decoding steps without selecting a recipe first. ROT13 and ROT47 are available as alternative readings.

Each step shows the result and its byte count. Open an earlier step when that is the data you wanted, then copy it. Supported codec readings use a re-encoding check; ambiguous short text may stay unchanged. Rotations are alternative interpretations, not proof of the original meaning.

A decoded JWT is not a verified JWT. This app does not check its signature or establish that its claims can be trusted. Compressed data can be identified but is not decompressed. Bytes that are not valid UTF-8 are reported rather than silently replaced.

Decoding runs locally, with no decoder network calls, ads, analytics or mandatory account. The last decoded string is kept in private app storage for recovery and is deleted when you copy a result. There is no accumulating history.

All included decoding features are free, with no paid tier or locked controls. This is a text decoder, not a general file converter, hash generator or encryption tool.
Decode Base64, hex, URL text and JWT payloads offline. Copy any decoded step.

What’s new

First release. Paste text or share it in, and Pocket Decoder works out the encoding from the bytes, then keeps going until nothing more decodes. Every step shows the byte count it produced, and you can open a stage and copy that one. Base64, base64url, hex, percent encoding, JWT containers, ROT13, ROT47 and JSON. A reading is accepted only when re-encoding reproduces your input; rotations cannot be checked that way and say so. Your text stays on the device. No ads, no analytics, nothing to buy.
