SIMUL: Audiobooks With Friends

SuperLab Ventures

About this app

Same stories. Closer together.

You and your best friend are in the same audiobook. One of you just hit the big twist. The other is three chapters back. Can you talk about it yet? SIMUL knows.

SIMUL sits beside the audiobook app you already use. Press play in Audible, Libby, Google Play Books, or Spotify, and SIMUL follows along, showing you exactly where your friends are in the story.

Know who's ahead
See your pace next to every friend in the same book. Get a heads-up the moment someone catches up, slips past you, starts something new, or crosses the finish line.

Leave notes that wait for them
Just heard a line that wrecked you? Pin a note to that exact moment, or to the end of the chapter. Your friend gets it only when they reach the same spot. React together, spoil nothing.

Every book, one shelf
Everything you play lands on your shelf on its own. Track what you're hearing now, what's up next, what you've finished, and the favorites you'd defend to the end. Line up your next listen before you press play.

Control playback without switching apps
Play, pause, skip, and jump chapters right from SIMUL.

Your people, your rules
Find friends by name, @username, or email. Only friends see your progress, and you can remove, block, or report anyone at any time.

Made for listening apart, together
Long-distance best friends. Couples on different commutes. Siblings in different time zones. Book clubs that can never agree on a date. Listen on your own schedule and still share every moment.

How SIMUL sees what's playing
Android only lets one app see another app's playback through notification access. SIMUL asks once and uses it only for the audiobook that's playing. It never reads your texts or chats, never replies to messages, and never changes your settings.

Good to know
• Free to use. Requires Android 11 or later and a Google or email account.
• On Spotify, only audiobooks count. Your music stays your business.
• Playback stays in your audiobook app. SIMUL doesn't play, sell, or lend books.
• Delete your account and all of its data anytime from Settings.

Grab a friend. Pick a book. Press play.
