About this app

GESIS Smart is an app with which you can actively support research at universities and public institutions. The app is developed by GESIS - Leibniz Institute for Social Sciences and operated exclusively for non-commercial research purposes. Please note that you need an access code to be able to use the app as a participant! Don't have a code? Then you can register here to participate in future studies.

GESIS Smart – your experiences in focus!
As a participant in a study, you will receive questionnaires via the GESIS Smart app, which you can easily answer and submit directly in the app.
The app shows you at any time how many questionnaires you have already filled out and what compensation you will receive for them. GESIS Smart is particularly suitable for conducting experience sampling studies. As a study participant, you may therefore be asked to report several times over the course of the study about your current thoughts, feelings, behavior or characteristics of your environment. GESIS Smart actively notifies you when a new questionnaire is available in your study. For this to work, the app asks you to allow push notifications when installing.

GESIS Smart – One app for many studies
GESIS Smart makes it possible to carry out a wide range of studies. When installing, GESIS Smart initially asks you for many authorizations. The responsible researchers will then inform you (after entering your access code) exactly what information will actually be collected and recorded for your study and will then ask for your consent. You always retain full control over which data is shared with which research project. Read more about who developed the app and what it is used for here.

Researchers are not allowed to use GESIS Smart to collect any data that allows you to be identified. For the public research institution GESIS - Leibniz Institute for Social Sciences, your privacy is top priority - which is why we store your data encrypted and pseudonymized.
