popcast is an interactive demographic atlas for 159 countries. Drag the globe, tap any country to open its data card, and move the year slider one year at a time to explore how populations have changed and how they may change through the rest of the century.

Demographic indicators (population, growth rate, fertility, life expectancy, aging share, etc.) are sourced from the United Nations World Population Prospects (medium variant):

GDP and GDP per capita are sourced from World Bank Open Data:

■ A note on data accuracy

Values for future years are projections, not measurements. They are based on standard demographic assumptions about fertility, mortality, and migration; real outcomes will depend on policy, technology, climate, and migration shifts that no model fully captures. Treat the projected values as a starting point for exploration and discussion, not as a precise forecast.

GDP values for years past the most recent published data are simple trend-based extrapolations and should be read as a directional indicator only.
