— INDEPENDENT, UNOFFICIAL APPLICATION —
SweepTrack RO does not represent any government entity and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Romanian Government, the Ministry of Culture, the National Institute of Heritage (INP) or CIMEC. All information is for guidance only.
SweepTrack RO is the Romanian edition of the SweepTrack Pro platform. It uses the field-tested GPS engine of SweepTrack Pro, but it is not a simple translation: it is a separate application, built around an essential question for detectorists in Romania — “Can I detect here?”
— PROTECTED AREAS —
The map displays approximately 28,700 sites from the National Archaeological Repertory, the boundaries published by the National Institute of Heritage, Natura 2000 areas and reserves.
Press and hold on any point for a quick verdict: YOU CAN, CAUTION or STOP, along with the distance to the nearest marked area.
Background monitoring warns you via voice and proximity signals before entering a protected perimeter, even if your phone is in your pocket. Each site has its own file and direct link to ran.cimec.ro. INP data is automatically updated monthly.
SweepTrack RO is an informative tool, not a legal opinion. Detection on archaeological sites without authorization is prohibited by Law 182/2000. The absence of a marking does not automatically mean that detection is permitted.

— GPS TRACKING —
Record your route and see time, distance, speed, altitude, direction, GPS accuracy and number of discoveries. The map shows you where you’ve already been, so you don’t cover the same ground twice.
You also have a compass, ruler, and distance measurement right on the map.
— RADAR: GROUP MAP —
Create a group or join an existing one with an eight-character code or by scanning a QR code.
See each member’s location, send pings like “Dig Here,” “Regroup,” or “Look Here,” and share points of interest. You can set a base, track the direction to a teammate or target, and send an SOS with your location.
— WAYPOINTS —
Mark places you want to return to: a gate, a promising area, or a group of signals. Organize them by category and navigate back to them directly from the app.
— PERIMETER FENCE —
Draw the boundary of the terrain or upload it from the Permission Vault. Your phone vibrates when you approach the edge and sounds an alarm if you go over it.
— HISTORICAL MAPS —
Overlay 1:50,000 Soviet maps, 1:20,000 Firing Plans, and Austrian maps on top of the satellite map.
You can also import your own scanned maps, plot sketches, or aerial images. Align them using control points and adjust the opacity to compare past with current terrain.
— OFFLINE, EXPORT, AND BACKUP —
Download maps for areas without signal, export data to GPX, KML, or CSV, and create encrypted backups to Google Drive. You can also generate share cards with map, statistics, and a QR code.
— HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM SWEEPTRACK PRO? —
SweepTrack Pro is the international app, with tools like weather forecast, tides, and US topographic maps.
SweepTrack RO is a separate app, built for Romania. It retains the SweepTrack GPS engine, but replaces the US-specific tools with RAN sites and INP boundaries, Natura 2000 areas, proximity alerts, and historical eHarta maps. These data and features are not available in SweepTrack Pro.
