Ratings and reviews

Sweet Shop is a promising new way to purchase and read digital comics. The app is easy to use and has a growing selection. I appreciate the focus on ownership and DRM-free downloads for the supporting publishers, especially with the history of digital comic stores. Although it is still in beta the foundation is excellent and I'm excited to see where it goes.

The best dedicated app for digital comics, with an integrated store, e-reader and social features. You can read online or download for offline reading, and it also supports DRM-free downloads of your purchases for personal backup. Easy to navigate, sort by genres, and search for everything from individual comics and series to authors and publishers. You can show off your collection and find other fans as well.

This is a very promising beta. Right now, its biggest strength is its metadata, which is both detailed and accurate. Exploring titles by creators (and editors) is fantastic. Buying comics is fast and easy, and the sales prices are excellent. While it doesn't yet have panel by panel reading, the reader is extremely responsive, great for 1-page, 2-page, and vertical scrolling. Unlike other readers I’ve tried, pinch zooming doesn’t cause problems. Devs are very responsive.
