The TV remote is somewhere in the couch cushions again. Your phone isn't.
Remote & Cast for Android TV turns it into remote for Android TV (Google TV too), with a real keyboard and casting built in. Free, no ads, no account, and under 4 MB.
Pair once with the code your TV shows. After that, just open the app and it reconnects on its own. A full TV remote control, and no AAA batteries to hunt for.
📱 Big buttons
• A big D-pad. Hold an arrow and it keeps going, so a long menu doesn't cost you fifty taps.
• Prefer to swipe? Flip to the swipe pad in one tap: swipe to move, tap to select, two fingers for volume.
• Power, input, volume, channels, playback and a number pad are there when you need them.
• Your favorite apps sit right on the remote. Tap one and it opens on the TV. The rest wait in the Apps tab.
⌨️ No more letter-by-letter searching
You know the drill: arrow, arrow, arrow, OK, just to spell one movie title. Now you type on your TV with your phone's keyboard, and the words show up as you go. Or tap the mic for voice search and just say the title.
📲 Cast to TV
Vacation photos look a lot better on the TV.
• Pick one photo or video, or several for a slideshow or playlist.
• Paste a video link, or tap "Open on TV" in another app's share menu.
• The built-in browser finds the videos on a web page and lists them by size, so you know what you're casting before you commit.
• Real playback controls: play/pause, seek, skip, rewind and forward, plus TV volume.
Casting uses the TV's Chromecast built-in, so there's nothing to install on it. One catch: streaming services and other DRM-protected video can't be cast. For those, the app offers to open the service's own app on your TV.
⌚ On your home screen and on your wrist
• Two widgets (a compact D-pad and a full remote) for when you'd rather not open the app.
• A Wear OS app for your smartwatch: D-pad, OK, Back, Home, volume, play/pause and power.
🎨 The small stuff
Dark or light theme, your call. 20 languages, with a picker inside the app. More than one TV at home? Add them and switch with a tap. There's also a left-handed layout, three D-pad sizes and haptics for a little buzz on each press.
🔒 Stays on your Wi-Fi
Key presses, typed text, voice and cast media go straight from your phone to your TV over your own Wi-Fi. They never pass through our servers. The app does send basic usage analytics and crash reports so we can fix bugs. No account, no sign-in.
📺 Supported devices
• TVs: Google TV and Android TV models from Sony BRAVIA, TCL, Hisense, Philips, Xiaomi, Sharp, Skyworth, Panasonic, OnePlus and more
• Streaming boxes and sticks: Google TV Streamer, Chromecast with Google TV, NVIDIA SHIELD TV, Xiaomi TV Box and TV Stick, Walmart's onn. Google TV boxes and TiVo Stream 4K
What counts is the software, not the logo on the front: Google TV or Android TV with the Android TV Remote Service built in.
✅ What you need
• A smart TV, Android TV box or streaming stick running Google TV or Android TV, like the ones above
• Your phone and TV on the same Wi-Fi
• Chromecast built-in on the TV, for casting
Heads up: this is a Wi-Fi TV remote, not an infrared one, so a TV that only listens for IR won't hear it. Same for generic boxes that run plain Android without Google's TV software: no Remote Service, nothing to pair with.
