Switchyard is a portrait strategy game built around railway switches and real-time dispatching. Every incoming train carries a clear destination code. Your job is to read the track layout, watch the next arrival timer, and tap each switch before a carriage commits to the wrong route. A correct delivery earns coins and builds a combo. A misrouted train or a collision adds delay, and the shift ends when the delay meter reaches its limit. The controls are deliberately simple, but the decisions become demanding as traffic grows, schedules tighten, and several destinations compete for the same main line.

The journey contains fifteen playable yards arranged across four operating rounds: Branch Yard, Mainline, Hub Yard, and Express. The layouts cover arrivals from every edge of the board and gradually introduce denser timetables, more switches, additional station targets, and high-pressure express runs. Track geometry, switch direction, train badges, and platform codes share one visual language, so success comes from reading the railway rather than guessing from color alone. An approach track keeps each arriving train visible before it reaches the first decision point, giving you time to plan without removing the tension of a live schedule.

Coins earned during a run are added to your permanent balance. Spend them in the Locomotive Depot to collect five distinct engines, from a practical steam hauler to the fastest express locomotive. Equipped engines improve cargo rewards and increase delay tolerance, changing how aggressively you can handle later shifts. The Station Ledger records twelve stations across four railway lines, including unlocked locations, completed runs, and on-time performance. It turns every short dispatch session into lasting network progress.

Switchyard is designed for quick one-handed play, readable goals, and meaningful progression. You can complete a focused shift in a few minutes, return to improve a difficult route, build a stronger fleet, or work toward clearing every yard and express challenge.
