About this game

Hangmates is hangman built for playing together.

Start a room, send your friends the link, and take turns guessing letters. Everyone sees the same board, every guess shows up in the color of whoever made it, and solving the answer is worth more the less of it has been revealed.

PLAY WITH FRIENDS
Two to six players. A room is private until you open it, so nobody wanders in while you are still setting up. Share a link or read the four-letter code out loud — either gets people straight into your game.

PLAY ON YOUR OWN
No connection needed. Solo keeps a stash of answers on your phone, so it works on a plane, on the train, or anywhere the signal gives up. It remembers what you have already had, whether you played it alone or with other people, so answers do not repeat.

THOUSANDS OF ANSWERS
Twelve categories — animals, food, history, sports, science, geography, literature, music, technology, entertainment, idioms and current events — across three difficulties, with new answers added every night.

SET UP THE GAME YOUR WAY
Choose how many players, how many rounds, which category, how hard it is, and how long a turn lasts. Pick a theme for the board.
