About this game

Xerxes is coming. Hold the line.

Hot Gates is a tower defense game set in the Greco-Persian Wars. Lead the Spartans at Thermopylae, the Athenian fleet at Salamis and the allied army at Plataea. Place your hoplites, archers and siege engines along the path. Stop every Persian wave before it reaches the Gate.

Four towers, three tiers each
- Phalanx: a wall of Spartan shields that holds the enemy on the road.
- Archers: fast Cretan bowmen who pick off the weak.
- Oxybeles: a bolt-thrower that punches through armour and hits the units behind.
- Pitch cauldron: burning pitch that slows and burns everything in reach.

Six historic chapters, thirty hand-made maps
Marathon, Thermopylae, Artemisium, Salamis, Plataea and Mycale. Each chapter brings a new enemy or a new tower. Land maps with narrow passes and open plains. Sea maps where Persian triremes row through the straits.

Allies: play together
Play a co-op map with a bot ally, or host a game and send a 4-letter code to a friend. Each of you holds one gate. Both of you guard the temple in the middle. Fill your MP bar and help your ally with a Fire pot, a Rally, a Reinforce or a Repair.

Troy: fight a friend
Play the Trojan War head to head. You hold the Achaean camp, your rival holds Troy, and the river runs between you. Build towers to guard your gate, then spend MP to send runners, shield bearers, chariots, Hector or the Trojan Horse across the river. Each unit you send pays you tribute at every wave. Play against a bot, host a game with a 4-letter code, or tap Quick match to meet the next free player. The first gate to fall loses.

Ranked Troy and cloud save
Make a free account with a nickname to play ranked quick matches. Each win or loss changes your rating. The leaderboard shows the top 100 players. With the account, your progress is saved in the cloud: it comes back on a new phone and stays the same on all your phones. The account is optional: everything else works without it. You can close it in the game at any time.

Endless mode
After the campaign, the war never ends. Every endless level builds a new map with longer paths, more spawn points and stronger waves. Your best level is saved. How far can you hold?

Grow your army between battles
Earn drachma on every map. Spend it on permanent upgrades: a bigger war chest, more hoplites at the Gate, longer range, cheaper Phalanx, better spoils.

Come back every day
A daily reward grows for seven days in a row. Earn stars on every map to open the next chapter.

Made for your phone
- The campaign works fully offline. Allies online and Troy online need an internet connection.
- No ads. No in-app purchases. An account is optional (only for ranked Troy games and the cloud save).
- Large touch targets and a 2x speed button.
- Flat, colourful art that stays sharp on every screen.

Enemies you will face
Persian levies, Sparabara shield-bearers, the armoured Immortals, fast cavalry and camel riders, scythed chariots, penteconters, triremes and the Phoenician flagship.
