About this app

Stop spelling out your phone number.

TapShare swaps contact details between two Android phones in about a second — no typing, no accounts, no internet connection.

Enter your name, number and email once. After that, meeting someone new is: open TapShare, bring the phones together, both tap Accept. The contact lands in your phone book, spelled correctly.

THREE WAYS TO SHARE

• Proximity — with Always Ready switched on, TapShare finds the other phone over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi as soon as you are close enough.
• NFC tap — touch the phones back to back and the exchange starts straight away.
• QR code — show your code and let the other person scan it with any camera app. This one works even if they do not have TapShare installed.

BOTH SIDES ALWAYS APPROVE

Nothing is sent or saved silently. You see exactly whose details are arriving and you choose Accept or Decline. The same choice happens on the other phone. Decline and nothing is written anywhere.

WORKS WITHOUT THE INTERNET

Everything happens directly between the two phones. There is no TapShare server, no sign-up, no cloud sync and no ad tracking. Your details are stored only on your own device, and they only ever travel to a phone you have physically brought next to yours.

GOOD TO KNOW

• Always Ready shows a small persistent notification. Android requires this for any app that keeps listening for nearby devices, and it is how you can always tell TapShare is on. Switch Always Ready off and TapShare stops listening completely.
• While Always Ready is on, the display name you chose is broadcast to nearby phones running TapShare so they can recognise you.
• Bluetooth Low Energy is required. NFC and the camera are optional — the app works fine without them, you simply lose the tap and scan shortcuts.
• Requires Android 8.0 or newer.

• Bluetooth and Nearby Wi-Fi Devices — to discover and connect to the other phone
• Contacts (write only) — to save a received contact into your phone book
• Camera — used only when you scan a QR code
• NFC — used only for the optional tap shortcut
• Notifications — for the Always Ready indicator and incoming contact requests
