Vocady is a vocabulary notebook you fill in by hand.

Write a word with your finger and on-device recognition reads it. Type it instead, if you prefer. Or photograph a page and register up to 50 words in a single pass — a marked-up textbook page, a printed handout, a page of your own notes. (Photo scan is a Pro feature.)

Then the AI writes the entry for you: IPA pronunciation, meaning, part of speech, a grammar note, a natural example sentence, where the word came from, and the nuance that separates it from its near-synonyms. That second step is the one that never happens on its own — you jot a word down in three seconds and never go back to it. Vocady goes back for you.

Japanese and Chinese entries carry their readings where you need them — furigana above the kanji, pinyin above the hanzi — not just on the headword but across the whole example sentence, so you can read a sentence aloud before you can fully parse it.

Every word is graded in CEFR and converted to the scale used for that language: JLPT N5 to N1 for Japanese, HSK 1 to 6 for Chinese, TOPIK for Korean, TRKI for Russian, and CEFR itself for French, German, Spanish, Italian and English.

A WORDBOOK MADE OF YOUR OWN WORDS
Most apps hand you a deck somebody else wrote. Vocady is a wordbook that starts empty on purpose, because the words worth learning are the ones you personally ran into. You already own a dictionary; what you do not have is a record of every entry you looked up and then forgot. Vocady is that record, and it writes itself as you go.

This is not a word of the day app, and nothing is chosen for you. If you are reading a French novel, your list is that novel. If you are working through Japanese vocabulary in a workbook, your list is that workbook — kanji, readings and all. That is what makes it useful as a vocabulary builder for an exam you are actually sitting, instead of a general trivia feed.

SIX CHALLENGE MODES
Review is built as six games, and every question is generated from your own entries:

- Context puzzle: work the word out from the sentence around it
- Time attack: answer against the clock
- Handwriting quiz: write the word by hand and have it checked, which doubles as handwriting practice for kanji, hanzi and Hangul
- Word to meaning, and meaning to word: the two modes that behave like classic flash cards
- Sentence assembly: put a scrambled sentence back into order

A streak counts the days you turned up and a calendar heatmap shows the whole month at a glance. Challenge modes are part of Pro.

WHAT WORKS OFFLINE, AND WHAT DOES NOT
We would rather be exact about this. Your words live in a local database on the phone first and then sync to the cloud, so handwriting capture, browsing your list and reviewing all work offline. The AI analysis runs on a server, so that one step needs a connection — anything you save offline is analyzed as soon as you reconnect.

KEEPING IT TIDY
Color tags group words however you think — by book, by class, by trip, by "things I keep getting wrong" — and you can filter by tag or quiz a single tag on its own. A distribution chart shows how your collection sits across difficulty levels, and every word carries a mastery card that moves as you get it right.
