The Sanatana Dharma Vidyasala was founded on 18th January 1905 by a team of socially committed citizens of Alappuzha led by Rao Bahadur K.A.Krishna Iyengar, Dr.S. Venkitarama Naidu and others on the inspiration and motivation of the eminent theosophist Dr.Annie Besant. Their efforts were later taken up by Sri. K.Parthasarathy Iyengar and Sri. V. Sundara. Raja Naidu., sons of the founding fathers. In the year 1967, Sanatana Dharma Vidyasala was bifurcated into SDV Girls' High School and SDV Boys' High School.
