The Green Access is an App/platform/service-provider, for selling and buying green tea leaves
This App is related with the Tea industry. Here, tea industry means a) Set/Established Tea Gardens ( Set Gardens), b) Bought Leaf Factory/manufacturing Unit (Tea Factory), c) Project Tea Gardens (Project Garden), d) Brokers/Traders.
a) Set/Established Tea Gardens ( Set Gardens):
These are tea Gardens were established during the British rule in India, and presently most of them are more than 100 years old. These gardens comprise of large/vast areas ranging from 200 Hectares to 800 Hectares or more. Almost all the gardens have Factory/tea manufacturing unit of their own. Production of tea leaves is not uniform throughout the year. Peak season is May to October, here we get highest monthly crop. In winter, there is no crop for from mid-December to mid-February. As of today, these gardens have ample provision to buy green tea leaves due to their excess factory capacity. Hence, most of these Gardens have become Buyer.
b) Project Tea Gardens (Project Garden):
During the eighties, few tea gardens were started with new concept, and the Tea Board of India provided the necessary License. Initially, these gardens used to cultivate Pineapple. But, once the pineapple cultivation became a loss making business, they gradually shifted to tea cultivation. These gardens do not have any factory of their own and are in small areas like 5 -50 Hectares. They started selling their tea leaves to nearby Set Gardens. During the nineties, there came a revolution and thousands of such tea gardens came up, the State Land Department intervened and specific guidelines were set . Presently in India there are more than 1,50,000 such tea gardens ( areas ranging from 1 hectare to more than 100 Hectares). These tea gardens ( without any Factory) came to be known as PROJECT GARDENS, and they are green tea leaf Sellers. Such project Gardens came up mainly in the States of West-Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Eastern Bihar, Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Kerala. Hence, such Gardens can be found in the remotest of rural areas, without good road for vehicles.
c) Bought Leaf Factory/manufacturing Unit (Tea Factory):
As the project Gardens started emerging, few people came up with the idea of Establishing Tea Factory for buying the green tea leaves from the Sellers. These Factories do not have any tea garden of their own. Hence, these Factories came to be known as Bought Leaf Factory. Presently, in India there are about 1000 such factories.
d) Brokers/Traders :
Around and after the year 2000, Crores of Kgs of Tea leaves were being produced by the project Tea Gardens. Presently, about 45%-50% (approx.) of all India tea production comes from the project Tea Gardens. At this period, many young people came up with the idea of becoming broker/trader of green tea leaves. They started providing vehicle to the spot of the Sellers along with advances of money in off-season etc. They started buying tea leaves from the sellers and the same was sold by them to Bought Leaf Factory or Set Garden. In doing so, they started earning commission/profit , which varies from 0.25 paise to Rs 3 per kg of tea leaves. As of today, there are thousands and thousands of such Brokers in the tea producing areas/States.
