Blinker is not just a torch that turns on. It blinks at whatever speed you choose, and it remembers patterns you tap out yourself so you can play them back any time.
■ Any speed you want
A slider from 0.1Hz to 60Hz, plus quick chips for the rates you reach for most. Five patterns are built in: Steady, Repeat, Pulse, Strobe and SOS in Morse code.
■ Tap out your own pattern
Hold the REC button and the LED lights; let go and it goes dark. Tap the rhythm you want and that becomes the pattern. Afterwards you can trim the start and end like a video clip, and choose whether it plays once or loops until you stop it.
■ Without opening the app
Tap the home screen widget to switch the torch on and off. Resize it from 1x1 to whatever fits your layout. There is a Quick Settings tile too, so you can reach it from the notification shade. Both resume the pattern you used last rather than just turning the light on.
■ Set it and forget it
An auto-off timer from 1 minute to 1 hour, so falling asleep with it running is not a problem. The blinking keeps going with the screen off.
■ What you get for free
Two custom presets to start, and up to 20 in total — unlock two a day by watching a video. Recordings run to one minute, and a video extends your next recording to two.
■ Premium, one payment
No ads, 200 presets, and recordings up to five minutes.
■ A word on safety
Rapidly flashing light can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy, including people who have never had one before. Blinker shows a notice the first time you open it and warns you inside the range where the risk is highest. Do not point it at anyone who has not agreed to it.
Available in 16 languages.
Strobe from 0.1 to 60Hz, record your own flash patterns, widget and QS tile.
