SynScan Setup Assistant for SkyWatcher Telescopes

Configure your SkyWatcher SynScan telescope hand controller quickly and accurately from a single screen. This astronomy utility app provides all the information required by the SynScan handset, eliminating the need to switch between multiple apps during telescope setup.

Using your device's GPS (the only permission required), the app automatically displays:

Latitude and Longitude in DMS (Degrees, Minutes, Seconds) format.
Local time, including the correct time zone and Daylight Saving Time (DST).
Date in MM/DD/YYYY format, exactly as required by the SynScan hand controller.
Altitude (elevation) above sea level.

The app supports both meters and feet, as well as 24-hour and 12-hour (AM/PM) time formats. You can choose English or Spanish, or let the app automatically match your device language.

For comfortable observing under any conditions, four display modes are available:

Automatic
Day Mode
Night Mode
Deep Night Mode (preserves dark adaptation)

A dedicated Polar Alignment screen shows the current position of Polaris (North Star), making it easier to perform accurate mount alignment with a standard Polar Scope.

What’s new

The app can now rotate the screen.

Longitude is displayed before latitude.

In view mode, an automatic mode has been added.

Spanish: dd/mm/yyyy format; English: mm/dd/yyyy format.

The AUTO mode in view mode now depends on the position of the sun above the horizon (calculated using the GPS latitude/longitude and the current time).
