Twenty mosaic floors buried under a site. The only thing you are given is the
numbers written in the margin.
Each number is one unbroken run of tesserae in that line, in order, with at
least one bare square between runs. Tap to set a tile. Switch mode and tap to
rule a square out. Both are claims about what is down there - get either one
wrong and it costs a strike, and the square then shows you the truth.
NO DIG EVER NEEDS A GUESS
This is the promise, and it is checked rather than asserted. Every mosaic was
run through a solver that is only allowed to apply constraint propagation -
never a coin flip - and kept only if that alone finishes the picture. Six of
the original drawings were thrown out for stalling and redrawn. If you are
stuck, there is something left to read, not something left to gamble on.
TWENTY MOSAICS
From a five-by-five warm-up to ten-by-ten floors. Each is named for what it
turns out to be, and the name is never shown before you lift it - working out
what you are looking at is half of why anyone digs.
FOUR TOOLS
Sift settles one square the clues already decide - a real deduction from your
own position, so it will honestly tell you when nothing is forced yet. Brush
takes back your last call. Plumb settles the line with the most still buried.
Mend buys back a strike, though the record still shows it.
A TOOLSHED
Four permanent tracks - an extra strike, better score, free Sifts, richer pay
- three tiers each, drawn for the next dig you open.
Plus eight citations, a daily allowance that grows with a streak, and a
journal of your last twenty digs.
MADE TO BE LEFT ALONE WITH
No timers. No lives. No energy meter. No network, no accounts, no ads, no
analytics, no tracking of any kind - the whole game lives in one file on your
device and nothing about you leaves it.
ACCESSIBILITY
A cut-stone grain on every set tile so filled reads apart from crossed without
colour, a reduced-flash mode, spent clues that grey themselves out, an
optional count of what is still buried, and a warning on your last strike.
A nonogram where no puzzle ever needs a guess. Checked, not promised.
