Avalanche Pack Tracker helps backcountry skiers, snowboarders, and mountaineers stay on top of the maintenance every avalanche airbag backpack needs — so your gear is ready when it matters most.
Whether you carry a cartridge-based system or a battery-powered electric airbag, manufacturers recommend specific, recurring checks to keep it working reliably. Avalanche Pack Tracker keeps track of all of it automatically, for every pack in your kit.
WHAT IT TRACKS
• Yearly check or test launch — cartridge systems need an annual cartridge and trigger check; electric systems need a yearly test deployment. The app reminds you before either is due, based on your pack's type.
• Comprehensive service — many manufacturers (including Ortovox) recommend a full teardown service on a longer cycle, typically every 5 years. Avalanche Pack Tracker tracks this separately and reminds you when it's due.
• Maximum service life — airbag systems have a manufacturer-recommended maximum usable lifespan, typically around 10 years from purchase. The app flags this so you know when it's time to think about retiring a pack.
• Deployment logging — if a pack is ever actually triggered in the field, log it. The app automatically marks it as needing service before its next use, and flags a malfunction for retirement.
• Full history — every check, deployment, and status change is recorded in a searchable timeline for each pack.
HOW IT WORKS
Add each avalanche pack you own with its brand, model, purchase date, and system type. Avalanche Pack Tracker calculates every reminder — annual check, comprehensive service, and max service life — and shows exactly what's coming due and when, right on the pack's page and in a dedicated Alerts tab.
Get local notifications ahead of each deadline, with a lead time you control, from a week to six months in advance. Log a check as pass, monitor, or fail — a failed check automatically retires the pack from active tracking, and you can reactivate it later once it's been cleared.
BUILT FOR MULTIPLE PACKS
Track every pack in your household or guiding kit in one place. Attach a photo to each one, add your own notes, and filter your list by status or system type at a glance.
PRIVACY FIRST
Your pack data stays on your device by default. Optional, user-initiated backup to your own Google Drive is available for premium users who want an extra copy — nothing is uploaded unless you choose to enable it.
