About this app

Texa buys original audio recordings for the datasets that teach machines to understand Nigeria.

You record with the app — speech, your own music, or the sound of a place — and we tell you what we will pay before you upload. Every recording is checked the same way, and you see which checks passed, which found something, and which could not run at all.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Verify who you are. Your NIN and a short liveness check. We never ask for your BVN.
2. Add the bank account we pay into. It has to be in your own name — that is the check that stops somebody else being paid for your work.
3. Read and sign the agreement. Two separate things: selling a recording, which is permanent, and letting us handle your personal data, which you can withdraw.
4. Record, upload, and get a decision with the reasons attached.

WHAT WE PAY

A price per minute, by category and by quality tier, shown in the app before you record. Part of it is sent to your bank as soon as a recording is accepted. The rest is held until the slower checks finish — a person listening, a search of released music — and released when they come back, not on a timer. The app always says what a held amount is waiting for.

WHY WE CHECK SO MUCH

We pay automatically, without a person approving each transfer. That only works if we know the account belongs to the person who did the recording. Everything we hold about you can be deleted later, from your account screen, and the app lists exactly what we can delete and what we are obliged to keep.

WHEN WE SAY NO

You get the rule, the number we measured, the threshold it had to clear, and what to change on the next take. Most of it is fixable.

Texa is for contributors in Nigeria. Payments are in naira, to a Nigerian bank account in your own verified name.
