About this app

The Gematria is a gematria tool for the Hebrew Bible, built to be exact.

Every word, every run of adjacent words, and every verse of all 24 books of the
Tanakh has been calculated in advance under six methods — 2,581,248 spans across
23,213 verses. A value is looked up, not worked out, so results come back at once
and nothing is ever missed.

SEARCH THREE WAYS
• By number — every word, phrase and verse in Tanakh carrying that value
• By Hebrew — its value under all six methods, and everything that shares them
• By English — every Hebrew word behind the English, so you choose which to
follow rather than being handed one guess

Each result shows the matched Hebrew inside the full pointed verse, the place it
sits, its value, an English translation, and how many times that exact text
occurs. Results always stand in canonical order, from Bereshit 1:1 forward —
never re-sorted by relevance, never shuffled. Filters narrow a list; they never
reorder it.

THE SIX METHODS
Standard (מספר הכרחי), Gadol (מספר גדול), Katan (מספר קטן), Siduri (מספר סידורי),
Atbash (אתבש) and Perati (מספר פרטי). Values are computed on the consonantal
written text, with vowels and cantillation stripped and the ketiv used where
ketiv and qere differ. Divine Names are always calculated on their true letters;
a reverent display setting changes only what is printed on screen.

A LIBRARY TO LEARN FROM
Around the index sits the rest of the shelf:
• The Tanakh — all 24 books, fully pointed, with the JPS 1917 translation and
Rashi beneath the Chumash
• Daily Torah learning — the weekly portion and its aliyot, the haftarah, the
monthly Tehillim, Daf Yomi, Mishnah Yomit and the Rambam's daily chapters,
each on the day it falls
• The Mishnah — all 63 tractates, 4,187 mishnayot, Hebrew and English
• The Talmud Bavli — the whole Shas, with the Vilna page beside it
• The Talmud Yerushalmi — 39 tractates, Hebrew and English
• The Rambam — the Mishneh Torah, and both countings of the 613 mitzvot
• The Siddur — the weekday services in Ashkenaz, Sefard and Chabad (Nusach Ari)
• Resources — the Hebrew months, the festival cycle, the 613 mitzvot and the
names in Tanakh
• Audio — the daily learning read aloud

SOURCES YOU CAN CHECK
The Hebrew is the Westminster Leningrad Codex by way of the Open Scriptures
Hebrew Bible. The English translation of Tanakh is the Jewish Publication
Society's of 1917. Every text in the app comes from a public-domain or
permissively-licensed edition, every page carries the credit for the words on
it, and the whole list of sources and licences is on the about page. Nothing
outside the 24 books is indexed or valued — the Mishnah, the Talmuds, the Rambam
and the siddur are here to read.

BUILT FOR READING
Hebrew is the hero of every screen: a large, dignified typeface, full right-to-
left layout, vowels always on. Warm paper by day, a full dark theme by night.
Bookmarks with your own notes, your place kept in every book, and the daily
learning checked off as you go.

FREE TO USE
The search and the library are free. Supporter plans exist for those who want
the project to keep going and want their bookmarks, notes, search history and
reading progress kept across devices.
