Technically, the app works but you can only find limited recent stories arranged by date. At times, there are several news headline categories IF the you can find the categories in setting. Sometimes, the categories can be found in settings but like today, it's nonexistent. My biggest complaint is the lack of being able to search the data base for specific stories previously posted or even a general word search.

Great content but the app itself has really annoying glitches, enough to make me prefer using the website, even on the phone. The most offending one: every time I open the app, every time I visit an article, even within the same session, I always have to scroll down a lot of white to get to two buttons to yet again give my consent for cookies. It's annoying and off-putting.

When the new website launched with a font that hurt my eyes, I had to give up on The Local - it's a shame they didn't do more accessibility testing. Then I remembered the app. Which is far easier on my eyes! Unfortunately there's not the same range of articles within the app as the website, but better than nothing. 30/6/2023 - I was really excited to see that more articles would be available on the app! Only they've rolled it out with the same font. And no dark mode or accessibility options :(
