The King James Bible, with every verse in plain English.

You have heard of this book your whole life, and its language can be hard to read today. The Plain Bible gives you each verse in words you already know, with the King James right under it. Nothing is skipped, nothing is softened, nothing is added. A hard passage comes out exactly as hard as it went in.

WHOSE WORDS THESE ARE
The scripture text is the King James Version (1769 text), which is in the public domain, with the 1611 Apocrypha and R. H. Charles's 1917 translation of 1 Enoch, also public domain. The plain-English readings and the notes are original writing, made for The Plain Bible by OneAtlas LLC. This app is not a Bible translation and is not affiliated with the Plain English Version, the Plain English Bible, or any other published Bible or publisher.

FOUR READINGS, ONE FOR EACH AGE
Every verse is rendered four times: for kids (5 to 8), preteens (9 to 12), teens (13 to 17) and adults. Switch in one tap without losing your place, so a parent can read with two children of different ages from one phone.

NOTES WHERE THE OLD WORDS MISLEAD
Some King James words have changed meaning since 1611, and a few have reversed. Where an old word means something different now, or a coin, an hour or an object is unfamiliar, a short note explains the language. A note never tells you what to think.
