The Red Thread: Cults & Crime

About this app

The Red Thread is your home for cults and crime: documentaries, podcasts and the reporting that follows them, pulled together by the case they cover.

Most true-crime apps hand you a list. This one draws the thread between them, so a documentary, the podcast episodes about the same case, and the latest reporting on it all sit on one page.

CASE FILES
• 260+ cases, each holding every documentary, podcast episode and recent story about it
• Follow a case and get told when something new lands
• Jump from any title straight to the case it belongs to

FIND WHAT TO WATCH
• 3,000+ true-crime and cult documentaries, series and films
• See where each one streams in your country, across 55 countries
• Filter by subgenre: serial killers, cults, cold cases, fraud, missing persons and more
• "Based on a true story" dramatizations are in the catalog too, clearly tagged apart from documentaries
• Search by title, year and subject

PODCASTS
• 1,300+ true-crime podcasts and every episode they have published
• Search inside a show to find the episode about the case you are following
• Rate a season when you finish it
• Case files link to the exact episode that covers them, not just the show

• Reporting on the cases you follow, tuned to your region
• Every story credited to its publisher and linked back to them

Free to use.

The Red Thread is a catalog and discovery app. It does not stream or host video or audio; it links you to the services that do.

What’s new

Bug fixes. Opening a case file no longer closes the app, and posting a review no longer freezes. One tap on Post now saves it, spoiler flag and all.
