The Masnavi, or Masnavi-I Ma'navi or Mesnevi (Turkish), also written Mathnawi, Ma'navi, or Mathnavi, is an extensive poem written in Persian by Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi, the celebrated Persian Sufi saint and poet. It is one of the best known and most influential works of both Sufism and Persian literature. The Masnavi is a series of six books of poetry that each amount to about 25,000 verses or 50,000 lines. It is a spiritual writing that teaches Sufis how to reach their goal of being in true love with God. This version is abridged and translated by E.H. Whinfield in 1898.

Ratings and reviews

The notes made by the translaror has severe mistakes at some points.Some of those holds serious kind of wrong info. I even found a note which held extreamly inappropriate and unfinished information, which looked like it was written to make THE PRIME TEACHING OF ISLAM AND SUFISM look bad! The translator may has done these mistakes awarely or unawarely (May ALLAH ALMIGHTY Forgive him).I suggest readers to be aware of anti Islamic Info in the notes,but avoidance of this version of The Book is best.

I always like maulana Rumi r.a,his writing and his thoughts.i read many books like six books of masnavi,forty rules of love,ma-aarif-e-masnavi.conference of birds and many more.these are fine and attractive couplets and stories
