Travelers are constantly bombarded with bad advice from non-experts and false product claims, resulting in many persistent misconceptions about jet lag and how to alleviate it.

It's time to replace the myths with real circadian science:

In your brain, you have a 24-hour circadian clock that regulates nearly all of your biological functions. Jet lag is caused when your sleep/wake and light/dark cycle shift too quickly for your circadian clock to keep up. The only way to reduce jet lag quickly is by shifting your circadian clock to the new time zone.

Light is the most important time cue for ā€œshiftingā€ your circadian clock. Light exposure and avoidance, at the right time, will significantly accelerate your adaptation. Seeing or avoiding light at the wrong time ā€” as often recommended by non-experts ā€” will shift your circadian clock the wrong way making your jet lag worse.

I had terrible jetlag after an 11 hour flight. After my pounding headache went away, I looked for an app to make the trip back easier. I gave Timeshifter a try. Because, why not? Had to be better than the other option. I followed the plan they set up for me and I was just a little tired when I got back. Nowhere near the squeezing vice from earlier. Anytime friends are traveling over multiple time zones, I recommend this app!

Used the app to travel from London to Hong Kong and Vietnam and experienced insignificant if any jet lag at all! Can't wait to use it on my way back as well. I didn't follow all the steps exactly as directed but still managed to have an easy transition from the UK to Asia with an 8 hour time difference. On the way back I'll try and follow it as directed as it's always harder going west! Would definitely recommend this app!!

Have used this app several times by now. On my first trip using Timeshifter - despite experiencing some jet lag - I noticed an improvement in the way I was able to adjust fairly quickly to a +7h time difference. But the true magic happened during all my subsequent trips since. I literally have *not* experienced any jet lag following all my recent trips to the same time zone. Real game changer for me! šŸ™šŸ»āœØ
