About this game

The inundation has come early. In the scriptorium below the cataract the season's tablets are still uncut, and the water is already at the lowest step. You are the last scribe. Carve the tablets before the river does.

CHAIN THE GLYPHS
Drag or tap your way across neighbouring letters — sideways, up, down, or corner to corner — to spell a word, then press Carve. The stone gives way, the columns fall, and fresh glyphs drop in from above.

FOUR KINDS OF STONE
Plain limestone pays what its letter is worth. Gilded glyphs count double. A lotus seal swells the entire word by half again. Silt is worth nothing at all — but working it into a word is the only way to purge it, and several chambers will not let you seal a tablet until the silt is gone.

THE FLOOD IS THE CLOCK
Every carve you spend raises the water behind the stone. Three seals protect you from a wrong guess; crack all three and the tablet is lost. Reach the score before the budget runs out and the stone is sealed — reach the top score and it seals on the spot.

FORTY TABLETS, EIGHT CHAMBERS
From the quiet Reed Shallows through the Silt Terrace and the Cataract Gate down to the salt air of the Delta Crown. Tablets grow wider, carve budgets grow tighter, and only long words carry you through the Hall of Scribes.

FOUR BOONS AT THE STONE'S EDGE
Oracle Eye lights the richest chain still on the tablet. Ebb Tide pulls your last carve back off the stone. Scribe's Gale scours every letter and re-cuts the whole tablet. Tide Stay holds the water back for three more carves.

THE SANCTUM
Spend what you earn on relics that never wear out: a deeper coffer, a granite ward for one more seal, a steadier hand for one more carve, the gods' favour on every score. Each tier applies from the next tablet you open.

THE GLYPH CODEX
Every distinct word you carve is copied into the Codex and filed by length, for good. Twelve citations track the rest — your first glyph, your first flawless tablet, your longest word, your deepest chamber.
