During hot weather MotherHeat Alert sends warnings to pregnant women, new mothers and to health workers. The messages help to prevent adverse health outcomes in hot weather.
MotherHeat Alert is an app developed within the HIGH Horizons research project. We are currently testing the mobile phone application so that improvements can be made. The HIGH Horizons project focuses on pregnant and postpartum women, infants, and health workers, groups that are heavily affected by climate change. We study how heat exposure affects the health of these groups in Europe and Africa and recommend measures to prevent and reduce heat impact on health.
