The game of Macao is a fairly popular, interactive card game that does not have "official" rules, because there is no federation or authority that can formalize them. That is why there are several variations and rules of the game.

All 54 cards in the deck are used, including the black and red Jokers.

Macao is a solo game and cannot be played in pairs.

The number of players is a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4, so that after the cards are dealt, there are enough cards left to continue the game.

The winner is the first player to run out of cards. When playing with two, three or four players, the last player left with cards in hand loses the game. When playing with five or six players, the game stops when the third player finishes.

After the cards are shuffled, each player is dealt between 5 and 10 cards, then the next card in the deck is turned face up, and the remaining cards are placed face down on the table. The turned-up card does not have to have a special function.

The player who starts must place a card of the same symbol (e.g. red heart over red heart, club over club, etc.) or of the same value (number)/figure as the one turned over on the table. In turn, the other players may place cards of the same symbol or value (number)/figure as the one placed by the previous player. If a player has several cards of the same symbol or value (number)/figure, he may place all of them (or only some of them) on the bottom pile in one turn, if he has among them a card of the same symbol, color or value (number)/figure as the last card placed on the bottom. (This is called playing "in packs" or "doubles").

If the player in question cannot or does not wish to place any cards, he will draw one from the remaining pile of cards (if it is of the same symbol or value (number)/figure as the one placed previously, he may place it directly on the table) and the turn passes to the next player. The remaining cards can be dealt in any order. If there are no more face-down cards in the draw pile, then the last card played by a player is set aside, and the remaining cards are turned face-down after being shuffled. This becomes the new draw pile.

When a player is left with only one card in his hand, he must say "Macao", otherwise, if someone else says "Macao" instead of him, he is forced to "puff" (draw) 5 cards.

If one of the players has played a card with a special function (2, 3, 4, Joker, K or A more than once cards of the same value), then the next player will execute the instructions of this special card.

2 and 3 - Draw 2/3 cards
4 - Stand for a turn
7 - Stop
A - Change color
Joker - Draw 5/10 cards
