About this app

ToiletCode is a crowdsourced map of public toilets and the access codes you need to unlock them. Built for travelers, commuters, parents with kids, runners, delivery drivers — anyone who has ever stood outside a locked café restroom wondering what four digits will save them.

🗺️ WHAT YOU GET

• A live map of public and semi-public toilets near you
• Door codes for cafés, restaurants, malls, gas stations, and shops
• Clear status badges for places without codes and places that unlock with a receipt
• Walking distance and quick directions to the nearest one
• Search by address, place name, or category
• Adjustable search radius so you only see what's actually within walking range

✅ ALWAYS UP TO DATE — BY THE COMMUNITY

Codes change. ToiletCode is built around that:

• One tap to vote "code works" or "code is outdated"
• Outdated codes are visually demoted so you don't waste time
• Anyone can submit a new code or update an existing one
• Built-in reporting for spam, duplicates, wrong locations, or closed places

The more people use it, the more accurate it gets — like Wikipedia, but for finding a bathroom.

🏆 ACHIEVEMENTS

Track your contributions to the map:

• Places added
• Helpful votes cast
• Cities you've put on the map
• Unlock badges as you help fellow strangers in need

🔒 PRIVACY-FIRST DESIGN

ToiletCode is genuinely anonymous:

• No registration. No email. No phone number.
• No password. No social login. No "log in to continue".
• No ads. No trackers. No analytics SDKs.
• Your location is used only on your device to center the map and filter nearby spots — it is NEVER sent to our servers.
• All data is stored in Google Firebase (EU region) over encrypted HTTPS connections.

You are identified only by an anonymous device ID generated by Firebase. It cannot be linked back to you, and exists only so we can prevent the same device from voting twice or reporting the same place fifty times.

🤝 WHY IT EXISTS

Public toilets in cities are inconsistent. Some are free, some need a code, some need a receipt, some are listed as "public" but have been locked for years. Google Maps tells you a place exists; ToiletCode tells you whether you can actually get in — and how.

It's a small app trying to solve a small but very real problem. If it ever helped you mid-emergency, please help the next person: add the code you used, vote on a code you tried, or report a spot that doesn't exist anymore.

📩 FEEDBACK

Bug? Suggestion? Wrong code that won't go away? You can send anonymous feedback right from the Settings screen, or email us at redneck.customs.production@gmail.com.
