About this app

This app generates strong 12 character passwords based upon a personal passphrase, a secret number, a PIN, and a very short key for each password.

On first use, the User uses the Options Menu ("hamburger icon") to navigate to "Phrase". The User enters a unique phrase.

Next the User uses the Options Menu to navigate to "Number". The User enters a non-zero positive secret number. It can be a large number. If the number is less than 10,000 the app will run very quickly. On many phones the number can be much larger than 10,000 and the app performance is still very good. Before settling on your number, the app should be tested with your number to see if it can produce a password at an acceptable speed.

The app will remember the phrase and the number. These are used as sources of randomness in the creation of subsequent passwords. It is wise to write down and save the number and the phrase because neither can be recovered if lost. These values should never be changed. If the app is installed on a new phone they will need to be re-entered on the new phone.

Once the pass phrase and secret number are established they are never changed. Henceforward the User uses the app normally using a PIN and a key. The PIN also should be written down and saved.

On the screen that first appears the User enters a PIN and presses the ENTER key. At that point a drop-down menu, called a "spinner", appears. The User then selects a key name from the spinner to generate a password and put the password on the Android clipboard. The key can then be successfully pasted into the Password box of most apps. It's very simple.

The choices of key names are: "0", "0np", "1", "1np", and so forth. The keys with names ending in np (no punctuation) do not have punctuation marks; they are just letters and numbers. The other key names, such as "0", "1", "2", etc, refer to keys that may include punctuation marks, and in general are more random.
