Ship Weight tells you what your package will actually be billed at — before you get to the counter.
Carriers do not simply charge by what the scale says. They compare the actual weight against the dimensional (DIM) weight and bill you for whichever is larger. A light but bulky box can cost far more than you expect, and most people find out only after paying.
WHAT IT DOES
- Calculates billable weight from size and weight
- Shows actual and dimensional weight side by side
- Marks which one you are being charged on, and why
- Handles the July 2026 rule updates (DIM divisor 139, sides rounded up)
- Separate handling for First-Class, which is not subject to DIM
- Saves box sizes you ship often, so you stop re-typing them
- Works offline, no account needed
HOW IT WORKS
1. Pick the service you plan to use
2. Enter length, width and height (inches or centimeters)
3. Enter the weight from your scale (lb + oz, or kilograms)
4. Read the billable weight, with the math shown underneath
WHY THE NUMBER DIFFERS
Each side of the box is rounded up to the next whole inch, then multiplied together. If the result is over one cubic foot, it is divided by the dimensional divisor to get the DIM weight. Whichever is heavier — actual or DIM — becomes the billable weight, rounded up to the next pound.
The app shows this calculation every time, so the number is never a mystery.
GOOD FOR
- Online sellers listing on marketplaces
- Small businesses shipping orders
- Anyone mailing a return or a parcel and wanting to know the weight first
IMPORTANT
This app estimates weight only. It does not show prices, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by any carrier. Rates, surcharges and rules change over time — always confirm the final cost with your carrier before shipping.
