Stymphony is an educational app designed to introduce children ages 2–7 (especially neurodiverse ones)
to the beauty of classical music as a source of positive stimulation and a tool for emotional regulation
through interactive listening and guided breathing.
Children interact with a colorful circular interface containing eight musical keys on each page.
Each key plays a 30–60 second excerpt from a curated classical piece while a guided breathing animation
and visual metronome encourage calm, rhythmic breathing. The app contains 64 musical excerpts spanning more
than 150 years of classical music history, including Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, & Tchaikovsky. Rather than
directing children toward specific selections, stymphony encourages curiosity and self-directed exploration.
Through repetition and personal choice, children naturally discover the pieces they enjoy and may return to
those they find relaxing or engaging. It is intended as an educational enrichment app and is not a
medical device or therapeutic intervention.
Stymphony was built using open-source software and incorporates a combination of public-domain musical works
and recordings made available under open licenses, including Creative Commons licenses. Where Creative Commons-licensed
recordings are used, the applicable creator, recording, source, license, and any modifications are identified
in the app's Music Credits & Licenses information.
We believe educational tools should be accessible to every family, regardless of financial circumstances.
The app is completely free. There are no advertisements, subscriptions, in-app purchases, or locked features.
If you enjoy stymphony and would like to support future educational software from Touchstone Tools, donations
are appreciated.
