Town Crier is a driving companion for Android that announces towns as you drive through them and shares a fact about each one. Turn on the app, start driving, and your route becomes an automatic tour of the places you pass through — no destination required.
Not navigation. Not a scripted tour. Whatever route you take.
Most driving apps get you from A to B, or read you an audio guide of a specific place if you're already there. Town Crier does something different: it works wherever you are, on any route, on any drive. There's no route to plan and no tour to download. You just drive, and Town Crier tells you about the places you're passing through as they happen.
A quiet voice in the passenger seat.
Town Crier is designed to feel like a knowledgeable friend riding along — not a chatty announcer. As you enter a town, you'll hear its name and one interesting fact about it. Learn that the town you're passing through was once a stop on the Underground Railroad, or that its unusual name comes from a Dutch settler's daughter, or that a famous novelist wrote her most acclaimed book in a farmhouse just off the highway. Then Town Crier goes quiet until the next town.

Not in the mood for facts? Turn them off and just get the town names, the county you're in, and a photograph on screen — a quiet way to know where you are without commentary. Want more detail? Enable optional announcements for major bridges, tunnels, and interesting landmarks near your route. Adjust the pace, silence towns you already know, or ask for another fact when something catches your interest.
