TowTide puts the tide, current and lock information a towboat crew actually uses on one screen, in plain numbers.
WHAT IT SHOWS
- Water speed in MPH, not just tide height, so you know what the water is really doing
- Flood, ebb or slack at a glance, with the next slack and the next high or low
- The 0600 / 1200 / 1800 / 2359 forecast for any station
- Brazos and Colorado floodgates: each gate in feet and inches, plus the river's own current in MPH
- Lock chambers from Texas into Louisiana, with closures reported by the Corps of Engineers
- The 350, where the GIWW crosses the Houston Ship Channel, and the points around it
- Mississippi River stage in feet and inches

WHERE THE NUMBERS COME FROM
Tide and current predictions from NOAA CO-OPS. Live gauge readings from USGS Water Services. Lock and closure information from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. TowTide passes that data through as it is received.
HONEST ABOUT ITS LIMITS
When a gauge is not at the structure itself, the card says so. When a reading has gone stale, it says GAUGE DOWN rather than showing you an old number. MPH means real water movement and FT/HR means how fast the tide is rising or falling; the app never mixes the two.
NOT FOR NAVIGATION
TowTide is an information tool, not a navigation system. It is not a substitute for charts, Notices to Mariners, or the lockmaster's instructions. Predictions are astronomical and do not account for wind, river stage or barometric pressure. Always confirm conditions with the lockmaster on VHF 13 before committing to a passage.
