About this app

Text Replacement is a writing utility for articles, blog posts, and notes. Paste or type, search for a word, phrase, or sentence, and put different wording in its place. The original stays until you apply the change.

Paste, type, cut, copy, or select the article. Undo and redo cover editing steps. A status line shows words, characters, paragraphs, and lines.

In Text Replacement, search can cover the full article or only the selection. Match case, or match a whole word so part of a longer word does not change. Limit a match to the start or end of a word. Literal search treats punctuation as ordinary characters. Regular expression search is optional, and an invalid pattern leaves the article unchanged. Empty matches are skipped. Replace one match, or every match after you see the count. The last replacement can be undone.

Text Replacement can apply several rules in order. Each rule has its own find text, replacement, and match options, and can be turned off without being deleted. Rules run from first to last. An earlier change can affect a later match, so preview the chain first. Move, edit, duplicate, or delete a saved set. Rule sets stay on the device and can be exported as JSON or imported again.

Preview shows the original article beside the modified article, with match and replacement counts. Highlighting marks changed text and is not stored in the article. On a very long article, highlighting may be skipped. Return to editing or apply the changes.

Text Replacement imports plain text, CSV, JSON, XML, log, and Markdown with the system file picker, up to 8 MB. Files are read as UTF-8 unless a byte-order mark says otherwise. Export runs only after you choose a location. CSV, JSON, and XML are edited as text, so a replacement can break the structure. You can check whether JSON or XML is well formed before saving. Overwriting the imported file requires confirmation.

Text Replacement stores named projects in a private database locally. A project can keep the article, its rules, and recent history. Rename, duplicate, open, or delete a project. Autosave can write the draft locally. The database is excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer. Uninstalling removes private storage. Articles are not uploaded to a developer server.

History lists replacements you apply. Recent entries can keep an earlier copy so you can restore it. Older snapshots are dropped. A history item can be deleted without changing the editor. You can set a restore point before the first replacement.

Bangla and other Unicode text can be revised in Text Replacement. A phrase is matched from the characters you enter. Editor font size is adjustable. The theme can follow the system, stay light, or stay dark. Settings cover default case matching, whole-word matching, autosave, and confirmations before replacing, clearing, or deleting.

A working internet connection is required. Wi-Fi and mobile data both qualify. If both are off, or the network cannot reach the internet, Text Replacement asks you to turn a connection on and tap Retry. The editor stays unavailable until that check succeeds. The check does not include your article. There is no account.

Google provides advertising when a connection is available and ads are allowed. Text Replacement uses an app open advertisement and an interstitial advertisement only. A fresh launch may show the app open advertisement after the home screen is visible, not when you return from the background, change sections, or press Back. An interstitial may be requested only after a replacement is applied. After an ad is shown, another is not requested for 15 seconds. A failed ad does not block editing.

This utility is not directed at children. Use it only for text you have the right to edit. You are responsible for what you paste, import, replace, save, and export. Preview a change, then apply it. Settings, the privacy policy, and short instructions are under More.
