About this app

Track ID Deck is an offline music player for the songs already on your phone, with an auto tagger that gives unknown songs their names back.

Songs forwarded through chat apps, saved from downloads or copied between phones often end up named AUD-20240115-WA0007.opus or track_07 (1).mp3. Track ID Deck finds those files, works out what they are and renames them to Artist – Title. On MP3, M4A, FLAC and OGG files it fills in the tags too, so every music app shows the right name.

No banners, no video ads, nothing between songs. No analytics and no tracking either.

RENAME MUSIC FILES FOR FREE
• Lots of files already say what they are in the filename or tags. Free names reads them, splits the artist from the title, renames the file and writes the tags. No credits, and nothing is uploaded
• See the old name and the new one side by side before anything changes. A rename can be undone
• Fix any song by hand with Edit details: title, artist and album

IDENTIFY UNKNOWN SONGS
For a song file nothing else can name, Identify sends a few short clips from inside the song to a music-recognition service and suggests the artist and title. You check the match, then tap Rename.
• One credit per song. A credit is used even when no match is found, but never when the service itself fails
• Credits come in 20-song packs through Google Play, and last three years
• Sign in with just your email (no password, a 6-digit code) to keep your credits on a new phone or after a reinstall

REMOVE DUPLICATE SONGS
• Finds songs saved on your phone twice, even when the two files have different names, by comparing the music itself
• Shows which copy it keeps and which it removes, and you can listen before you decide
• One copy of every song always stays, and nothing is removed until you say so

A PROPER OFFLINE MUSIC PLAYER
• Plays MP3, M4A, FLAC, OGG, OPUS, WAV and more, with no internet needed
• Songs, artists, albums, playlists with your own cover pictures, and favorites
• Keeps playing in the background, with notification and lock-screen controls and a home-screen widget
• Shuffle, repeat, an up-next queue and a sleep timer
• A turning vinyl record stands in for songs with no cover art
• Lyrics already saved with a song show on the player and full screen. Timed lyrics follow the song, and tapping a line plays from there
• A layout of its own for a phone held sideways

MUSIC VISUALIZER
• Ten retro visualizers, from spectrum bars and a VU meter to a radial burst and an LED grid, that react to the real sound. No microphone permission needed

EQUALIZER AND BASS BOOST
• A DJ-style equalizer: a fader for each band, a tilt dial that leans the sound towards bass or treble, and a flat button
• Presets, and one-tap bass boost, stereo widening and extra loudness for quiet files, where your phone supports them

MAKE IT YOURS
• Eight accent colors, your own wallpaper, your choice of text color and outline, and two styles of turning record
• Sort orders, an on-screen back button, and filters that hide voice notes, system sounds and clips that are too short

ACCESSIBILITY
• Reduce motion: one switch stops the spinning record, the pulsing glows and the visualizer
• Labeled for screen readers such as TalkBack: buttons, switches and sliders say what they are and whether they are on
• The equalizer's faders and dials can be set without dragging

MORE TOOLS
• Trim a song into a new clip without touching the original, or set a song as your ringtone
• Export your whole library as one file (CSV, text or M3U). Upload it to a playlist-transfer service to rebuild it as a Spotify or YouTube Music playlist, or open it in another player

PRIVACY
Your library stays on your phone. Audio leaves it only when you choose to identify a song, and we don't keep it.

Track ID Deck only works with music you already have. It does not download or stream music, and it is not connected with Spotify, YouTube Music or any other app or service.

What’s new

Now and then, after the app has renamed your songs, Google Play may ask you to rate it. It's quick to skip, and it won't keep asking.
