About this app

The UDOT Traffic app provides commuters and travelers with mobile access to information for Utah roadways from the Utah Department of Transportation's Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). The available information includes:

1) A zoomable, scrollable map-based display
2) Current traffic conditions on Utah's freeways and major surface streets
3) Accidents, road construction activities, and other hazards
4) Special events that affect traffic (sports events, etc.)
5) Current road weather conditions and road weather forecasts
6) Seasonal road closure status
7) Closed-circuit television (CCTV) traffic camera images
8) Electronic roadway sign messages

UDOT's Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) uses technology to save lives, time, and money.

It is a computer-controlled system designed to monitor and manage traffic flow on freeways and major surface streets. System components include CCTV cameras, electronic roadway signs, traffic speed and volume sensors, pavement sensors, and weather sensors.

Ratings and reviews

This is the worst app. Previous app was so much better. You would know where accidents were, you could zoom in without losing the detail on the map, you could id accidents, road work, and a few other things on separate screens. This newer map has too much on the screen...it gets blurry if you zoom in and you lose the traffic condition info. Also, very annoyingly, the screen arbitrarily flips to some black screen with their logo. So, you waste time having to go back. Deleting this app.

I really like the new app, once I familiarized myself with it. I have two suggestions: 1. Please fix the App so when the audio plays "Co." as in Davis Co. (County), it does not say Davis "Colorado" which would be "CO". 😅 2. After pressing the Blue numbered circle which zooms in on the map (which I like), when it is closed have it return the map to the size it was set at. I will then change my rating to 5 Stars. Thank you for all your work developing the new App.

Updated version is junk. It showed traffic moving with its colors when Highway 6 was shut down. It had green showing that the traffic was moving when the road was completely shut down because of flooding and washing the Highway out. They made it very nice and showy, yet it is not useful because it does not show Highway conditions correctly. Programmers love to add bells and whistles when simple is more useful. Just because you can do something with an app doesn't mean you should.
