About this app

TranslatedChat helps you message people who speak other languages. You write in your language; the app can show your contact a version in theirs, and incoming messages can be shown in yours. Translation runs only when needed (for example, when participants use different languages). Translation is done from your device using Google’s Gemini API — message text you send for translation is processed by Google under their terms and policies (see Google AI / Gemini documentation). We do not control how Google processes data beyond their published terms. For account, language, and privacy details, see in-app settings and the Privacy Policy. If both of you use the same effective language, the app skips translation for that message. Translation features may be limited or disabled in certain contexts within the app.

HOW MESSAGES MOVE AND HOW LONG THEY STAY ON OUR INFRASTRUCTURE
We do not market TranslatedChat as a permanent cloud inbox. Messages are relayed through our backend (Firebase, a Google service) for delivery and app features. Undelivered relay messages expire after up to seven days. A scheduled server job runs regularly (approximately every minute) to delete expired relay messages and associated server-side media. Your day-to-day chat history is kept on your devices; we do not provide a long-term server-side message archive.

ENCRYPTION (PLAIN LANGUAGE)
The app uses strong encryption (AES-256-GCM) to protect message content in supported flows — for example when encrypting payloads for relay and when handling data locally. This does not mean that only the two users can access plaintext in all scenarios: when you use cloud translation, your device sends text to Google Gemini so Google processes that content for the translation request. Voice transcription and other features may also use cloud or on-device services as implemented in the app. For the exact categories of data and processors, see the in-app Privacy Policy.

MEDIA & CHAT FEATURES

• Free with ads; optional subscription removes ads (Google Play Billing).
