Ever wanted your phone to look like it's actually see-through? Transparent Wallpaper Camera turns your back camera into a live wallpaper, so your home screen shows what's directly behind your phone in real time. Set it down on a table and it looks like you can see straight through the device.
HOW IT WORKS
Grant camera access, tap Set Live Wallpaper, and you're done. The app streams your back camera directly onto your home and lock screen — nothing to configure, no account, no sign-up.
TEN LOOKS, NOT JUST ONE
Original, Black & White, Sepia, and Negative are available from the start. Six more styles — Night Vision, Thermal, Poster, Vintage, Neon Edge, and Frost — unlock by watching a short video, free, whenever you want a different look. No purchase required for any style.
BUILT FOR YOUR HOME SCREEN, NOT JUST A NOVELTY
• Pinch to zoom in and out on the live feed
• Adjustable white balance and focus mode
• A rotation-correction setting for phones where the camera sensor sits at an angle
• Optional flashlight toggle for low light
• Works on the lock screen and home screen together, or separately
WHAT IT DOESN'T DO
This app does not take photos, does not record video, and does not save or upload anything from your camera. The feed is drawn straight to your screen and nowhere else — it stops the moment the wallpaper isn't visible, whether you've opened another app or the screen has turned off. There's no gallery, no cloud storage, no camera roll integration, because there's nothing being captured to store.
WHY PEOPLE INSTALL THIS
Some use it as a genuine conversation-starter prank — hand someone your phone and watch them try to figure out how a solid slab of glass and metal is showing a live view of the table underneath it. Others just like the visual effect of camera-textured backgrounds instead of a static photo. Either way, it's one of the more distinctive things you can do with a home screen.
LIGHT ON YOUR BATTERY
The camera only runs while the wallpaper is actually on screen. Lock the phone, switch apps, or open another camera app, and this one releases the camera immediately — no background drain, and no conflict with your regular camera app.
Free to use, with a small number of ads that support ongoing development. You can watch optional short videos to unlock extra styles, but nothing is ever required to use the core app.
GOOD TO KNOW
• Only one permission is required to run the wallpaper: Camera.
• Notification permission (Android 13+) is asked separately, only after you've set the wallpaper, and only to tell you if it ever gets switched off by a theme change or another wallpaper app. You can turn this off any time in Settings.
• No account, no login, no storage permission needed.
Requires a working back camera and Android 7.0 or newer.
